Protagonist of the trades of the ancient Romans, almost abandoned in the Middle Ages, then reborn with the "Estatatura" of the Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo of Lorraine.
Ruby red color, tending to garnet with aging, "vinous" smell with fruity notes, good flavor and freshness, accompanied by softness or sometimes by slight tannins. Characteristics that have made it successful in Germany, Switzerland, the United States of America, Canada, Hong Kong and Singapore where most of the exports arrive. And obviously in Italy in the land where it was born, the Maremma: Morellino di Scansano (Sangiovese base) is one of those wines that in recent decades have had their return in style, after being the flagship of the wine production for ancient Romans, having been abandoned or almost during the Middle Ages and rediscovered in the nineteenth century, when its current name was also born, probably derived from the "morelli" horses, brown, which populated the area and pulled the carriages, whose mantle it had a color similar to these grapes.
